Sept 19- we traveled back to JOCO to play East Laurens in another game of the tournament. We have seemed to lose our offensive pop lately, and it showed again yesterday. We struggled to come up with key hits most of the game. We were down 8-4 going into the 7th inning. The Lady Hawks never gave up though. We put together a rally with some big hits and took the lead 9-8. We held on in the bottom of the 7th for the win.
Sept 17-The Lady Hawks traveled to Johnson County Saturday to play tournament host Johnson County. In a hitting clinic, JOCO hit a 2 run HR, 3 run HR, and a 4 run HR. Before we knew it, we were done. We did not hit well, but our defense played well when they had the opportunity. JOCO won 15-0
We traveled to Wilkinson Co. Sept. 15 and defeated the Lady Warriors 8-2. Our potent offense was a little rusty after not playing in a week and a half, but we did ok. Our overall record now is 9-2.
Last Thursday(Sept 7) the Lady Hawks were supposed to play Butler at home. Butler made a mistake with scheduling, so that game has been rescheduled for Wed. Sept. 28 here. Our game today against Glenn Hills today has been canceled because they no longer have a team. Tomorrow we were supposed to play Thomson here. Thomson asked to reschedule the game next Thursday Sept. 22 here starting at 6:00. We play Wilkinson Co. there Thursday at 5:00 and go to Wrightsville on Saturday to play Johnson County at 6:00 in the first round of a tournament.
Sept 6- The Lady Hawks defeated Grovetown by a score of 9-0 at home. Morgan Morris pitched a 1 hitter in the win. This win improves our overall record to 8 wins and 2 losses. We remain undefeated at home this year. Actually we haven’t been beaten at home since the 2009 season. We play Butler tomorrow at home for a sub-region matchup.
Sept 1-Despite injury and illness the Lady Hawks softball team had a terrific week this week. Yesterday we finished out the undefeated week with a win over Grovetown. We defeated the Lady Warriors 15-8. Our offense had 15 runs on 20 hits. I am hoping this weekend the players can rest and get back healthy. We have 2 home games next week. We play Grovetown Tuesday and Butler Thursday.
Aug 30-The Lady Hawks played their 1st sub-region game against Hephzibah. The Lady Hawks potent offense led the way again scoring 18 runs to Hephzibah’s 3. Tierra Murray hit her first career homerun in the game. The Lady Hawks record at home is now 4-0 and overall record is 6-2.
Yesterday the Lady Hawks traveled to Glascock Co. and defeated the Lady Panthers 17-11. The Lady Hawks offense continues to shine and carry the team. Everyone contributed with a hit, sacrifice, or bunt. Defensively we are a little banged up with all 3 pitchers battling injuries. We are working through the injuries and now have a 5-2 record. Today we play our first sub-region game against Hephzibah here at 5:30. Please come out and support the Lady Hawks.
Aug 25-In a tough game, the Lady Hawks fell to the Lady Dogs of Thomson.. We jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st. Thomson battled back scoring in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th to take the lead. We scored again in the 5th. Going into the 6th, we were down 7-5. Thomson had a big inning with some big bats and a homerun to beat us by a final of 13-5. We have 3 games next week including our first sub-region game Tuesday.
Aug 24-The Lady Hawks played Wilkinson County at home yesterday. We defeated them 19-8 with 2 freshmen pitchers working together on the mound. Today we travel to Thomson to play the Lady Bulldogs. This does not count as a region game, but it is a key crossover sub-region matchup to size each other up for region playoffs later this year. Please congratulate the team and wish them luck this afternoon.
Aug 18-The Lady Hawks were in action at home yesterday and continued our home winning streatk against Glascock Co. With explosive hitting and stellar defense, we won the game 15-0. We have 2 games next week against Wilkinson Co. Wednesday at home at 6:00 and Thomson Thursday away at 5:30. Please congratulate our girls on a good start to the season.
